A 3-month certificate course and a dedicated AI & Legal Ethics Research Lab signal a new chapter for legal education in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad).
Indian courtrooms are changing. AI is already reviewing contracts, flagging case precedents, and powering E-discovery workflows. The question is no longer whether lawyers will work alongside AI, it is whether they will understand it well enough to lead. Marathwada Legal and General Education Society’s Manikchand Pahade Law College, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Findability Sciences are betting that Marathwada answers that question first. Cont
The two institutions have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding to launch one of the first dedicated Legal AI education programs in the region, a 3-month Certificate Course in Legal AI and a full AI & Legal Ethics Research Lab on the M P Law College campus. The first batch is planned for academic year 2026–27.
India's legal system is mid-transformation. The E-Courts Mission Mode Project is pushing AI into translation, transcription, intelligent scheduling and court administration. Law firms and corporate legal departments are already deploying generative AI for drafting, research and compliance. A generation of lawyers is walking into practice without ever being trained on the tools that will define it.
What the Programme Covers
The jointly designed curriculum goes well beyond the theoretical. Participants will work hands-on with Legal AI tools across AI foundations, generative AI in legal practice, case intelligence, IP protection, document review, E-discovery workflows, legal analytics, responsible prompting, and ethics simulations. The program concludes with a capstone project with mentorship from Findability Sciences
Findability Sciences brings AI experts, guest faculty, live tool demonstrations, faculty training and selective internship pathways for high performers.
Upon completion, participants receive a joint certificate from MP Law College and Findability Sciences.
The Research Dimension
The AI & Legal Ethics Research Lab is the initiative's long game. It will take on questions that India's legal system has not yet fully reckoned with - AI in Indian courts, data protection, algorithmic accountability, transparency in legal decision-making, and the constitutional boundaries of AI deployment. Joint research, policy papers, workshops, and national symposiums are all part of the plan.
"Law schools cannot teach the law of the next decade with the toolkit of the last one," said Dr Aparna N. Kotapalle, Principal, MP Law College. "This collaboration allows us to bring that future inside our classrooms here in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, rather than waiting for it to reach us from elsewhere."
"Responsible AI adoption is not something engineers can settle on their own," said Rohit Raut, Legal AI Expert, Findability Sciences. "Lawyers must have a seat at the table when we decide how AI is used in courts, contracts, and the public square. Marathwada has deep talent that deserves direct access to the frontier of legal technology."
The course is open to MP Law College students, practicing lawyers, law graduates, students from other institutions, and professionals from allied fields. Admissions timelines and curriculum will be announced by MP Law College.
